Fall Fun Volunteer Opportunities in Halton Hills.

It’s not too late to explore fall fairs and other activities in the Town, including volunteering.

September and October are often the nicest months of the year, with warm days and cooler nights.  Despite being back-to-school time, it’s too early to say goodbye to summer and fun outdoor activities.  And you don’t have to yet because there are still lots of activities and events to participate in this fall.

In addition to farmers’ markets taking place all over Halton Region, there are popular yearly events coming back to Town this September: the Acton and Georgetown Fall Fairs and the Georgetown Craft Beverage Festival “Head for the Hills”.

Additionally, there are a number of charity walking, hiking, and running events like the Terry Fox Runs taking place in Georgetown and Acton.  Fun and healthy for the whole family, the events raise funds for good causes, too.

Fall is also a great time to explore new programs and activities at Halton Hills Public Library. The library is the place for programs, storytime, reading clubs, books, creativity, events and fun!

Art at the Library

The Art at the Library exhibition showcases amazing artwork by local, young artists! To celebrate and encourage artistic talent, Halton Hills Public Library, in partnership with the Helson Gallery, is inviting all children and youth (17 years of age and younger) to submit their artwork. Learn more about this creative program at hhpl.ca/art

Teen Advisory Council (TAC)

Teens aged 12 to 18 are encouraged to join TAC and have a say in what happens at the library, earn volunteer hours, and be part of the community. TAC members suggest ways the library can better serve teens, test out new tech, share ideas for programs, socialize with other teens, provide feedback on the library’s teen collections of books, graphic novels, magazines, video games, and more. TAC meets once a month, and you can join the Acton or Georgetown group. Learn more by visiting hhpl.ca/TAC

Halton Hills Lecture Series

Listen to and explore lectures and topics by experts in their respective fields. Topics relate to issues we are facing in our lives, our community, and our world. It’s an opportunity to discover new ideas, debate opinions and explore topical events. To learn more and see the fall lineup, visit hhpl.ca/LectureSeries

Culture Days at the Library

For Culture Days 2023, your Library is once again hosting activities for all age groups in a wide range of artistic and creative disciplines. Join us from September 22 to October 15 to engage, create and learn something new or to satisfy an ongoing creative passion.

Join us this September and discover something new. Some programs require registration, others are ticketed, and some are drop-in. Visit the library’s online calendar to learn more about the programs and activities that are available to you!

Volunteer with the Town

As the days become shorter and thoughts of the winter months start to creep in, many people think about giving back to the community.  The Town of Halton Hills offers a variety of opportunities to make a positive impact in the community through volunteering. If you are looking to develop your skills, build confidence, make connections, and contribute to your community then we are looking for you!  Visit volunteering for more information.
