We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Rodney Eastwood. Born in Huddersfield, England in 1941, Rodney immigrated to Canada with his wife Mavis in 1969. They built a wonderful life together filled with adventure and friends. Rodney passed away at the Georgetown District Hospital unexpectedly on April 28, 2024. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for their compassionate care. Rodney was predeceased by his wife Mavis, his daughter Gail, parents (Frank and Nellie), and brothers (Frank and Malcolm). He is survived by his son Stephen (Kelly).
He was a loving and inspiring grandfather to Gabby, Jordan, Tyler, Paige and Adam. Rodney was a professional rugby player in England. His individual accomplishments on the field, and his dedication to his teammates were of the highest standard. He brought this excellence and commitment to his professional life, where he spent 47 years at Marel Contractors. Rodney loved his work, and was still actively working up until his final days with us.
Rodney and Mavis were avid travelers; they made a lasting impression on so many people that they met, and made friends all over the world. Rodney also enjoyed spending weekends at the cottage in Muskoka, where he loved to host friends and family as often as he could. It’s safe to say, there aren’t many people like Rodney Eastwood. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
