Tempus Fugit: the NEW Art Installation of Ixchel Suarez

Laureate College invites you to experience a profound exploration of time, culture, and belonging through the lens of contemporary textile art. Internationally acclaimed artist Ixchel Suarez presents a stunning installation that bridges her heritage from Mexico, her time in Poland and Spain, and her 20 years of life in Canada.

Set within the picturesque grounds of Laureate College on Snake Road, Suarez's work delves into themes of relocation, settlement, aging, permanence, and decay. Inspired by the metaphor of trees—non-native yet seeking belonging—her installation features diverse representations of growth and resilience. These "trees" embody diversity, reflecting different regions, species, and stages of life, creating a symbolic connection to the human experience.

Amid the challenges of climate change, technological overuse, and disconnection, Suarez's art provides a sanctuary where the public can interact with the artwork, blurring the boundaries between art, environment, and a shared sense of belonging.

Join us for the opening vernissage on December 7, 2024, and witness the beauty and depth of contemporary fibre arts. The Gallery is open now for those eager to preview this multidisciplinary artist's work before the grand opening.

Come and see how Ixchel Suarez invites you to reflect, connect, and explore the threads of time. For more information, visit Laureate College on Snake Road and immerse yourself in a truly unique artistic journey.
