Georgetown Choral Society

GCS is a mixed-voice community choir of 90 singers in Georgetown, Ontario.

Under the direction of Christopher Dawes, the Choir has approximately 100 members, and performs at a level normally associated with professional groups. The choir performs a mixed genre of musical works and has performed at such locations as Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. We have also performed in Holland, England and Ireland.

We perform two major concerts per year, usually repeated on two consecutive evenings. We also participate every year in Remembrance services in November as well as perform in benefit concerts.

The Georgetown Choral Society is proud to announce that it was awarded a grant from The Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2006. The much needed grant was used to replace the formal garments the choir wears at concerts; upgrade the storage and tracking facilities for the choir’s large and growing music library; and develop a new web site.

During the era of COVID-19, we are enjoying weekly “Zoom” meets in which we engage in safe vocal warmups, repertoire, new learning and generally staying connected as a choir. We can’t wait to be back together again!
