Acton residents and others who look forward to The Roxy Centre’s free monthly community dinners can expect a little more holiday merriment next week.

The event - held the third Tuesday each month - has been feeding families for about a year now, and this month's gathering will be all about Christmas.

The Roxy's director Payge Lucas says the dinners "started as a way to help support those who needed a warm meal."

"We've expanded to say anyone is welcome no matter who you are. Just come and connect and be fed," Lucas explained.

“Our goal is to love the community by providing value and connection as our mission statement. People can just come and build relationships with others.”

The Christmas gathering from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 will be, of course, bedecked in red and green to get everyone in the spirit of the season.

A turkey dinner with all the staples like stuffing and cranberry sauce will be waiting for guests. Visitors can also expect an appearance from Santa and readings from children's books.

Lucas asks families to email [email protected] with the names, ages and genders of their children so staff can ensure there are enough toys to go around.

The monthly meals are made possible by the support of sponsors, with this month’s being Four Seasons Dental. The Roxy Centre is always looking for more sponsors for future meals.
