It’s the end of an era for Louanne’s Famous Fries as the well-known food truck recently left its location of over three decades to find a new home.
The mainstay on the Halton Hills food scene has moved from the corner of Trafalgar Road and 10 Sideroad to the Agram Meats and Culinary Boutique parking lot a bit further down Trafalgar, officially opening its doors there last weekend.
“It’s sad that we had to move - we had been there for so long,” said Louanne’s owner Melissa Keith, noting the property her business was on sold for gas station development.
“But it (Agram’s) is a great spot. We’re partnering with them, so it will be good business for both of us.”
While specifics are still being ironed out, Louanne’s will be teaming up with Agram Meats to bring some new offerings to the menu.
In the meantime, the hot pink food truck will be serving up its famous varieties of fries – classic, poutine or Newfie fries, which are covered in ground beef, onions, gravy and a touch of barbecue sauce, or stuffing made with Newfie savoury.
“Newfie Fries are still one of our best sellers,” noted Keith.
Classic items like hamburgers, hot dogs, Pogos, chicken fingers, sausages and more are also available.
The truck started off decades ago as John’s Fries, with the Newfie fries recipe being developed back then after requests from the owner’s Newfoundlander friends.
Keith bought the business from her mother-in-law - the truck’s namesake, Louanne - about eight years ago and reports that business has been really good, with the pandemic bringing about an unexpected influx in customers.
Louanne’s Famous Fries is now located at 10676 Trafalgar Rd.
