HaltonHillsToday received the following letter in response to this article about Highway 413.
Dear Editor,
The Ontario government may think it can push ahead with this expensive and unnecessary highway, ignoring environmental concerns and Indigenous voices.
Highway 413 will benefit Premier Ford‘s friends who own land all along it, will allow a few drivers to cut north between Milton and the 400, and will cost every taxpayer in the province.
It would be much cheaper to subsidize trucks on Highway 407 and improve GO transit.
The federal Minister of the Environment Steven Guilbeault has the power to stop this highway in its tracks by requiring an impact assessment. Environmental Defence, the David Suzuki Foundation, Halton Hills Climate Action and groups across the GTA are all asking him to call for such an assessment.
