The beach at Prospect Park in Acton has been deemed unsafe for swimming.
Halton Region monitors the water at beaches in Halton on a weekly basis during the summer months. Based on the sample collected July 17, the water exceeded the provincial guidelines for E. coli. Swimming in the water may increase the risk of illness or infections.
Several factors can affect the water quality, including heavy rain, high winds, the presence of geese, ducks and other water foul, shallow water and heavy algae growth or accumulation.
