The Roxy Centre has received thousands in grant money from the Town for critical upgrades at its downtown Acton building.
The community-centric facility was recently awarded $29,057.50 from the municipality's Building and Property Renovation Program - part of the Town's overall Community Improvement Plan.
The project was completed this fall and represents a pivotal phase in re-purposing the facility as The Roxy Centre, catering to diverse community groups, facility rentals, co-working initiatives and kitchen rentals, the Town said in a news release.
“I am so pleased to see this investment in one of our downtown Acton businesses,” Mayor Ann Lawlor said. “Protecting and improving building infrastructure is quite literally, the foundation of the local business community. Congratulations on these critical improvements.”
The grant funded a roof replacement that not only safeguards the structure, but bolsters ongoing efforts to develop the space, the Town said.
The Roxy Centre made additional improvements including ceiling repairs, office renovations, HVAC upgrades and Internet infrastructure enhancements, made possible through a collaborative effort involving donations, volunteer contributions and external funding sources.
"These comprehensive renovations serve to fortify The Roxy Centre as an all-encompassing, people-centric environment dedicated to delivering value and fostering connections in the Acton community," the Town said.
The Community Improvement Program offers grants and loans to eligible businesses and organizations, encouraging revitalization, attracting private sector investment, expediting redevelopment of underutilized properties and bolstering local job opportunities.
