Halton Police, in partnership with various Ontario police and law enforcement agencies, are cracking down on commercial vehicles this week as part of a two-day CMV inspection and enforcement blitz.

Officers have been deployed across the region and are looking for commercial vehicles that appear to have some sort of mechanical issue, a safety concern, or a load issue. Vehicles with these problems will be stopped and escorted to the inspection site at Woodbine Mohawk Park in Milton.

Any vehicles found to be unsafe will be taken off the road, Halton police said in a press release. Cargo and the corresponding administrative paperwork required to be carried by the drivers will be inspected.

Light commercial vehicles such as small panel trucks, cube vans and pick-up trucks with trailers will also be subject to this inspection.

Police are posting updates regularly on X (formerly Twitter), showing officers stopping unsafe commercial vehicles.

This is the 22nd CMV blitz, which has become the largest two-day safety initiative of its kind in the province.

Last year, 316 inspections of commercial vehicles took place during the blitz, 95 of which resulted in trucks being taken out of service. In total, 208 charges were laid and eight sets of plates were removed from unsafe vehicles.
