Does your home use well water?

A local conservation authority is offering an online seminar about testing your water and keeping your well in good working order.

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is inviting well owners in the Credit River watershed to attend Solutions for Safer Well Water, a free webinar about well water safety.

The webinar takes place on Wednesday, April 12 from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Landowners will learn how best to test their water, how to maintain their well infrastructure and why protecting groundwater is so important, the conservation authority said in a news release.

“This webinar is for landowners who have wells on their property and will cover all the information you need to keep yourself, your family and your community safe from contaminated water,” said Lisa Brusse, CVC manager of landowner engagement and stewardship.

Guest speakers Dwayne Graff, president of the Ontario Ground Water Association, and Sandra Angelucci, a Peel public health inspector, will cover the health effects of contaminated water, how contamination happens, treatment options and solutions to protect water quality.

Participants will also have a chance to ask well water experts their questions. Register at cvc.ca/events or call 905-670-1615, ext. 221.

Interested landowners unable to attend can contact a CVC stewardship coordinator for more information on how to assess, upgrade or improve their well.

The Province of Ontario website also has a best practices guide to learn more about actions you can take to reduce the risk to your drinking water.
