Halton Hills firefighters battled an early-morning house fire today in the south end of Georgetown.

The local department, police and EMS responded to the call on Argyll Road, near Hepburn Crescent shortly after 6 a.m. this morning (July 24), with flames showing through the roof upon arrival.

Firefighters battled the blaze from the interior of the house before switching to an exterior attack, with the department’s aerial truck on scene to help extinguish the flames.

Nobody was in the home at the time, and police say the house is currently unoccupied.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and damages have now been estimated at $500,000.
