Local residents raised a glass for a good cause this fall, and several charities in the community are now reaping the benefits.

Organizers of the Georgetown Craft Beer Festival - Head for the Hills recently turned over proceeds from the event to a group of local organizations.

A total of $43,056.61 was raised and given to: the Townsend Smith Foundation, CARE (Community Alliance for Reaching Everyone), Distress Centre Halton, Food4Kids Halton and Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills.

The festival was launched in 2015 and is hosted, organized and operated by the four service clubs of Georgetown - Rotary, Lions, Kiwanis and Kinsmen.

It takes place each fall at Trafalgar Sports Park, bringing thousands of people together for a day of craft beer and cider sampling, gourmet food and live music.
