Georgetown District High School's junior boys soccer team won its second consecutive Halton championship.

The Georgetown District High School 87s edged Iroquois Ridge 3-2 Tuesday to claim its second straight Halton Secondary School Athletic Association junior boys’ soccer title.

Both teams were undefeated heading into the final, with Georgetown finishing 4-0-2 to finish first in the Richardson Division while Iroquois Ridge topped the Volpe Division with a 5-0-0 record. Georgetown then defeated T.A. Blakelock 6-1 in the quarterfinals before defeating Milton District 3-2 to earn the chance to defend its title.

Chase Hardcastle, Evan Dennis and Ali Rauf scored for Georgetown in the final, held at City View Park in Burlington. The 87s’ Thomas Fahlman anchored the defence and keeper Oliver Shannon made numerous key saves against an Iroquois Ridge team that scored 36 goals in its seven previous games.

Captains Timothe Strout and Jack Meldrum provided strong leadership for Georgetown, which extended its undefeated streak in league play to 17 games (15-0-2) over the past two seasons, outscoring its opponents 56-17 over that stretch.

Under coaches Jordan Dias and Steven Ramlal, Georgetown followed up last year’s first-ever HSSAA junior boys’ soccer title with its second championship, demonstrating the increasing level of soccer talent in Georgetown.
