Flames shoot through the roof of a home on Argyll Road in Georgetown Wednesday morning (July 24).

An early-morning fire Wednesday has caused $500,000 in damage to a Georgetown home.

The Halton Hills Fire Department, police and EMS responded to the house on Argyll Road near Hepburn Crescent shortly after 6 a.m. today (July 24). Flames were visible through the roof when firefighters arrived on scene.

Four trucks from all three Halton Hills stations attended with approximately 20 firefighters.

Crews battled the blaze from the interior of the house before switching to an exterior attack, using the department’s aerial truck to extinguish the fire.

The Halton Hills Fire Department, which will be conducting the investigation into the cause, says the fire originated in the main floor living area and left behind an estimated $500,000 in damage.

Nobody was in the home at the time and Halton Regional Police say the house is currently unoccupied. No injuries were reported.
