A Georgetown man is in hospital after being pulled from a fire at his home.

Halton Hills firefighters responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 28) on Moultrey Crescent, with smoke showing upon arrival.

Initial reports from the scene indicate the blaze started in the kitchen, where firefighters found the man and brought him out to safety.

Halton Hills Fire Department (HHFD) Deputy Chief Bruce Morrison said the man sustained some burns and was also suffering from smoke inhalation. He was transported to hospital.

Due to the injuries, Morrison said the Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and will attend the scene to conduct an investigation, with the HHFD assisting as needed.

The home sustained “significant damage,” noted Morrison.

The cause of the fire and dollar value of the damage will be determined through the investigation.
