Two massive classic car shows and a musical fundraiser are among the events taking place in Halton Hills this weekend

THURSDAY

Open Mic Night/Jam Session

August 24 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: Join Acton City Limits for an evening of live music on the Legion patio by Fairy Lake. Everyone is welcome to come out and jam or simply listen and enjoy. No fees or membership required.

FRIDAY

Rock’n Roll’n Classics Car Show

August 25 from 5 to 10 p.m. in downtown Georgetown: The 22nd annual free show will feature a community of classic cars and live music by The Tone Dogs, known for their renditions of classic rock 'n' roll hits.

This event, which serves as a fundraiser for the Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association, is presented by the Downtown Georgetown Business Improvement Area and Georgetown Chevrolet Buick GMC.

SATURDAY

Acton Trunk Sale

August 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Acton GO station parking lot: The Rotary Club of Acton is back for the season with its popular trunk sale. Shop for a variety of products or become a vendor for $15 cash - no reservations required. Simply show up any time after 7 a.m.

Georgetown Farmers’ Market

August 26 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in downtown Georgetown: Shop every Saturday morning from a mix of vendors that offer farm produce, culturally diverse food and products, hand-crafted jewelry, soaps, candles and more.

Drop-in Family Story Time

August 26 at 10 a.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Georgetown and Acton branches: Explore new themes each week through stories, rhymes, and songs. No registration is required.

Drop-in Cricut Bookmark Making

August 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Halton Hills Public Library, Acton branch: Join the library team and use the Cricut to make your own bookmark. Create a custom design, and then use the Cricut to cut it out. This program is in partnership with the Acton Fall Fair.

Board Game Cafe

August 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Acton branch: Come on out for some board game fun. This week there’ll be games like Catan, Monopoly, Root and Risk. No registration required.

SUNDAY

Car Show and Shine

August 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Acton branch: Classic cars and fun will abound at the annual Car Show and Shine rolls back into the local Legion. Barbecued food will be available from 12:30 p.m. onward. In lieu of admission, a donation to the Acton Food Share would be appreciated.

ALL WEEKEND

Music in the Park

August 25 to 27 at the Old Armoury, 1 Park Ave., Georgetown: Get ready for a weekend of musical entertainment by Globe Productions. The show celebrating the group’s love of musicals also doubles as a fundraiser to support the upkeep of the Old Armoury. 

Show times are: Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m.
A $20 cash donation at the door is the suggested minimum for admission to the event.
