A huge variety of indoor and outdoor holiday markets, a stuffed stocking auction and Light up the Hills ignition night are among the events happening in Halton Hills this weekend

FRIDAY

Free Family Movie Screening
Nov. 29 at 2:30 p.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Acton and Georgetown branches: Enjoy a showing of Wonka in the Studio and have a special treat.

Elaine Jones Team Community Winter Market
Nov. 29 from 12 to 7 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, 89 Mountainview Rd. S., Georgetown: Creative and crafty home-based businesses will be showcasing their talents. Donations will go to the Townsend Smith Foundation to help build a local hospice. Don't forget to bring cash.

Teen Friday Night Lock-in
Nov. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Acton branch: Local teens can kick off their weekend with a dive into tech, snacks, video games, crafts, and more. Register here.

SATURDAY

Montgomery Christmas Sale
Nov. 30 at multiple locations, Norval: Get into the spirit of the season with Christmas shopping from vendors at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Norval from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Janet Wilson, author of Maud of Anne of Green Gables, will be at the church to do a signing of her book that was released just last year. 

As part of Montgomery Christmas, St. Elias The Prophet Ukrainian Church (10193 Heritage Rd.). is also hosting its market featuring Ukrainian-style food and deli meats, a gourmet cookie bar and a traditional Ukrainian hot meal for lunch - soup, kobaska(sausage), kapusta(cabbage), varenyky(perogies) and a cabbage roll or two.

The Norval Studios and Gallery is also getting in on the fun on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a large assortment of original paintings, cards, hand-woven scarves, mitts, towels, runners, placemats, pottery, stained glass and many more artisan treasures.

Winter Wonder
Nov. 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Halton Hills Public Library, Acton and Georgetown branches: There will be opportunities to visit with Bluey and Bingo, face painting, snowflake crafting, letters to Santa, playing in virtual reality and watching Frozen 2.

Georgetown Holiday Market
Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Georgetown: The Downtown Georgetown BIA is set to ring in the season with its Holiday Market in the downtown core. There will be over 90 vendors, trackless train rides down Main Street, carollers and more.

SUNDAY

Coca-Cola Holiday Caravan Tour Stop
Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Toronto Premium Outlets: Festivities will include an opportunity to capture a picture with the festive Coca-Cola holiday truck – driven by Old Saint Nicholas himself – as well as receive a complimentary beverage.

Christmas Market in the Glen and Kind Vibe Kids Children’s Market
Dec. 1 from noon to 4 p.m. on Main Street, Glen Williams: The third Christmas Market in the Glen will take over the hamlet Sunday afternoon, with more than 120 vendors lining the streets.  There will be a tree lighting at 3:30 p.m. Santa will be making the rounds and carollers will be performing throughout the day. Young entrepreneurs will also be selling their creations in the Kind Vibe Kids Children’s Market, located at the entrance.

Stuffed Stocking Auction
Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. (preview at 1 p.m.) at Acton Town Hall Centre: Dozens of stockings filled to the brim by local businesses are ready for local residents to bid on. Stockings may be viewed starting at 1 p.m., with bidding fun getting underway at 2 p.m. with auctioneer Doug Donaldson. Proceeds are used by Heritage Acton to support the ongoing expenses of operating the Acton Town Hall Centre.

Light up the Hills Ignition Night
Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (lights go on at 7 p.m.) at Dominon Gardens Park, Georgetown: Enjoy the annual tradition of seeing thousands of Christmas lights turn on in the park. Tim Hortons will be supplying hot chocolate and the Lions Club will be cooking hot dogs. Visit with Santa and take a ride on Little Obie, CN's safety train.

ALL WEEKEND

The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 at the John Elliott Theatre, Georgetown: Georgetown community theatre group Globe Productions is bringing the Charles Dickens work to life on the stage. Tickets are available on the John Elliott Theatre’s website or in person at the Cultural Centre.

Christmas Market at Williams Mill
Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 515 Main St., Glen Williams: Shop from the artists who call the historic mill in the Glen home and enjoy some tasty treats.
