Here's what's happening at the Acton Fall Fair

Rides, midway games, truck and tractor pulls highlight weekend activities

The Acton Fall Fair, which runs Friday to Sunday at Prospect Park, celebrates its 111th anniversary this year.

There’s only one place to be in Acton this weekend.

The Acton Fall Fair, first held 111 years ago, kicks off its three-day run at Prospect Park Friday. 

The gates will open to the public at 4 p.m., but the fair gets underway at 10 a.m. with its popular Education Day, where local students are invited in to learn more about agriculture.

Friday evening, the heavy horse pull starts at 7 p.m. and inside the Dufferin Rural Heritage Community Centre, the Acton Ambassador competition begins at 8 p.m.

There will be musical entertainment in the beer garden throughout the weekend. Friday night, Wicked Truth hits the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday, the Saltwater Cowboys play from 2 to 5 p.m. followed by Browns Garage at 7 p.m.

Gates open at 8 a.m. for a full day of entertainment Saturday. 

The Dufferin Centre opens at 9 a.m. for the homecraft exhibits and the baby show starts at 10:30 a.m. The urban farming demonstration and egg judging run from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be free bingo from 3 to 4 p.m. An Evening of Spirits with mediums John Dixon and Jackie Kavanagh will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Outside, the heavy and light horse pull begins at 11 a.m. on the track while the lawn and garden tractor pull starts at 6 p.m.

Other Saturday events include the poultry show at 9:30 a.m. in the Thompson Building, the cattle show at 10:30 a.m. in Ring 4, the kids pedal pull at 11 a.m. and the horseshoe competition at noon.

Gates are open again at 8 a.m. Sunday. The Dufferin Centre opens at 10 a.m. and the Junior Board gives you the chance to play Plinko from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The quilt and raffle draw will be held at 2 p.m.

The dairy cattle show starts at 10 a.m. in Ring 4, followed by the Halton 4H sheep club achievement day at 10:30 a.m.

The dove show and the youth poultry show run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Thompson Building.

On the track, the antique tractor pulls begin at noon, with the 4x4 truck pulls up next at 1:30 p.m.
