The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is accepting applications for several student summer positions until March 6.
Halton residents aged 15-17 who are attending a local secondary school program are invited to apply for the Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI), which is offered in partnership with the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. There are eight positions available for the role, which is 35 hours per week and runs for eight weeks (July 3 to Aug. 25). The positions are based out of the HRPS Headquarters facility at the QEW and North Service Road West in Oakville.
In their role, the YIPI students will interact with and learn about the many aspects of policing. They will also have the opportunity to serve their community and learn leadership and teamwork skills.
According to the posting on the HRPS website, “The goal of YIPI is to give eight young people an opportunity to develop job skills while enhancing police and community relations. Ultimately, the successful student will learn valuable life and employment skills that will aid them for many years to come.”
