A Kitchener man has died after falling from Burlington's Mount Nemo.
The incident happened yesterday afternoon when the 58-year-old was hiking with a group of friends.
Police, fire, and EMS responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a Conservation Halton spokesperson, the group was not on Conservation Halton property at the time of the incident.
"Serious and potentially fatal incidents can occur when hiking in any natural area and near an escarpment edge,” Stephanie Demetriou, junior communications manager for Conservation Halton, says.
“These types of incidents have been very rare at our parks. We prioritize the health and safety of our visitors and work to build awareness with our guests through communications, signage, and park resources.”
Police say no foul play is suspected and the incident does not appear to be suspicious.
No information on where specifically the man fell was available.
Mount Nemo was open to the public as of Monday morning.
Due to a police investigation, Mount Nemo Conservation area will have a heavy police and EMS presence.
