Experience the Canadian tradition of maple syrup production at Credit Valley Conservation's (CVC) annual festival, Maple Syrup in the Park.
The event, taking place at Terra Cotta Conservation Area in Halton Hills March 13-16, 22 and 23, will deliver a variety of family-favourite activities plus some new ones that celebrate maple season.
Activities can be accessed with a general admission ticket and include:
- Daily children’s entertainment, including face painting, magic shows or puppet shows
- A wagon ride to the sugarbush to see how sap is collected from sugar maple trees
- A Maple Mystery Challenge to find out which of Terra Cotta’s woodland animals has been sipping all the sap in the Maple Hills Sugarbush.
Returning special features include:
- Five educational stations with historical and modern demonstrations of how sap is turned into syrup
- Stories and songs from traditional helpers (Oshkabewis) and a Fire Keeper at the sweat lodge (Madoodiswan)
- Blacksmith demonstrations of how iron tools were hand-made
- A maple-themed storybook walk and giant games.
Complete your Maple Syrup in the Park visit with a stop at the Pancake House for a pancake breakfast with real maple syrup. Try some warm maple taffy and other maple-themed items, available for purchase.
Discounted tickets are available until Feb. 23 or when early bird tickets sell out. Credit Valley Parks Passholders receive a 15 per cent discount off tickets, including early bird pricing. Tickets are available to purchase online, by phone at 1-800-367-0890 or at the park during the event.
