Metrolinx is introducing another way to get around Brampton from its GO stations.
Customers can now rent e-scooters from the Mount Pleasant, Brampton and Bramalea GO stations.
The scooters are provided by GTA-based company SCOOTY Mobility, which already has parking hubs throughout Brampton.
Users will need to download the SCOOTY app to their phone in order to use the service, as it's not run through Metrolinx itself. When riders are finished with a scooter, they need to park it at one of the designated parking spots.
SCOOTY Mobility has been operating in Brampton since April, after the city launched a pilot program along with 750 e-scooters for residents to pick up. The e-scooters travel at 20 km/h, and automatically adjust their top speeds based on the area the rider is in. The e-scooters can even shut themselves down if ridden into an undesignated area.
SCOOTY Mobility e-scooters are also not permitted on GO Transit vehicles.
The SCOOTY Mobility and Metrolinx pilot program will run until Dec. 31, 2024.
