HaltonHillsToday, in partnership with the Upper Credit Humane Society, highlights a special pet in need of adoption every week.
Hello, my name is Sam, and I’m very happy to meet you. I came to the shelter in mid-June looking for my new forever home.
I’m a very lovable and sweet boy looking to get into an equally loving home. My hobbies include playing with a flirt-pole, jogging/hiking, and chasing butterflies around the yard. I also enjoy playing in the water in the kiddie pool here at the shelter.
Because I’m a husky, a shelter life is very difficult for me, and I would do best in a fur-ever home where my energy can be used and my mind stimulated. The staff here are doing best by practising basic obedience and leash skills while trying to work my mind, but I need a home environment and someone who has husky experience. My potential is huge if given the chance with proper and professional training.
Since I’m still a puppy intellectually, I do tend to jump up on new people I meet while being fully grown, so I’m not recommended for families with small children. I also need basic obedience and manners training, with some dog socialization.
My leash walking is a beginners level, but with the proper energy outlet and experience, I enjoy engaging with people and learning new things.
I would do best in a fully-fenced yard, with someone who can physically and mentally stimulate me, and who doesn't mind me chasing away all the butterflies and grasshoppers from their yard.
Sam came to the shelter an unruly teenager, and he is developing into a wonderful dog who shows restraint and maturity. He thrives on routine, play, tug, and snuggles. The staff and volunteers have worked consistently with Sam since his arrival and he has risen to the occasion. What he needs now is a home with people of his own, who will take him to the finish line.
