Get those auction paddles ready.

Heritage Acton’’s Christmas Stuffed Stocking Auction returns tomorrow (Dec. 1) at 2 p.m., with dozens of stockings filled to the brim by local businesses ready for residents to bid on. Proceeds are used to support the ongoing expenses of operating the Acton Town Hall Centre.

Auctioneer Doug Donaldson will be on hand to run the show using a traditional auction process, with each bidder competing to purchase the stocking of their choice.

Here’s how it works:

  • Attendees will be given a numbered paddle upon entry (visitors are under no obligation to bid, but Heritage Acton hopes you’ll be excited to try)
  • Donaldson will help the crowd through the bidding with a good dose of humour
  • The highest bid wins the stocking
  • At the end of the auction, bid money is collected (cash or credit) and stockings are distributed to the winners.

Stockings may be viewed starting at 1 p.m. Contributing local businesses include: Sweet Molly’s, Smooth Solutions, The Holland Shop, Sew Productive, Acton Optical, Giant Tiger, Acton Home Hardware, Pet Valu and many more.
