Glen residents and visitors can now take in the hamlet's atmosphere more easily.

The Glen Williams Community Association (GWCA) and the local Keller Williams Real Estate brokerage (KW) have installed a new bench in Shelagh Law Parkette. Dozens were present to unveil the seat Thursday afternoon (June 13).

“The Glen has so much character,” Bryan Robinson of KW told HaltonHillsToday. “With just the use that we see it (the parkette) get, we want to keep adding to it and beautifying it over the years.”

The new bench is located near the Main Street bridge over the Credit River. Walkers, cyclists, people watchers or whoever wants to take a load off may have the best view in the parkette. The bench is oriented to point upstream, giving a commanding view of the green space.

The GWCA and Keller Williams collaborated around this time last year as well to create a pollinator garden in the parkette. At that time, dozens of real estate staff got their hands dirty with GWCA volunteers for Red Day, an annual day of helping their community.

As part of working in concert, KW agreed to partly fund the bench. A plaque acknowledging the contribution has been mounted on the concrete pad next to the new seat.

“That really helped us in accomplishing the objectives in our strategy [for the parkette] sooner than we thought,” GWCA president Joan Griffin said in praising Keller Williams.

The GWCA has many events planned for the year to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the hamlet. More information on the happenings of the Glen can be found on their website and Facebook group.
