It's safe to say these local residents and entrepreneurs are hometown proud.
Thomas Snow of Ink Point Graphics, along with sibling business partners Nick Rogers and Rachel Rideout are all genuine Georgetown articles.
Snow owns a made-to-order clothing line called Wear Georgetown. As the name suggests, customers can choose from a number of prints highlighting well-known Georgetown staples.
Meanwhile, Rogers and Rideout are making waves on social media with their Georgetown Love bumper stickers.
“I think it’s pretty cool if you are out in Acton and you see a Georgetown Love sticker, or in Milton and see it and think, ‘Oh, that’s cool. That person is from town,’” said Rogers.
Added Rideout, “At the end of the day, it’s just to support Georgetown. We love our town. We’re proud of it. We want to see how many other people are proud of it.”
Snow applies his years of graphic design experience to T-shirts – both men and women’s cuts – and hoodies. His prints have resurrected the McGibbon Hotel, shined a spotlight on Larry Melton’s music and cultivated awareness of Hungry Hollow.
“That McGibbon Hotel sign is such an iconic sign for downtown Georgetown,” Snow said. “Now that the building is gone, it’s just missing that piece.”
He said he often reminisces with his friends about the McGibbon and “wanting to go back and relive our days of dancing and just having some drinks and enjoying our nights out.” In particular, he misses the buffet and how “it was super affordable.”
Ink Point will be donating $5 from every shirt purchased and $10 from each hoodie sold to the Georgetown Bread Basket. This arrangement started when Snow first approached Melton about designing a shirt honouring him and local music. Melton suggested the Bread Basket as a beneficiary as he often raises money for them as well.
