The Walk or Run for Georgetown Hospital is back this weekend with more ways to help your local hospital.
This year’s event will be held at the Gellert Community Centre, beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29.
In addition to the usual three-kilometre and five-kilometre routes, there will be a one-kilometre route this time around.
There will also be food, vendors and entertainment before and after the walk.
The Georgetown Hospital Foundation has set a goal of raising $90,000, which will go toward a new and more advanced mammogram machine. The technology will increase accuracy and chances of early detection, provide faster results and expand the capacity to screen more patients locally.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt, a goodie bag and pre- and post-race refreshments, and a bonus prize for one-kilometre Little Steppers. There will be an opportunity to pick up your bag prior to the walk on Thursday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Royal LePage Georgetown, 324 Guelph St., Unit 12.
