Winterlit runs from Dec. 28 to Jan 7.

It's almost time for the magical evenings of Winterlit at Mountsberg Conservation Area.

The award-winning event returns Dec. 28 and will bring the winter woods to life along two illuminated trails, featuring art installations made using sustainable materials, including the spectacular Tekyuharhtes – Star Lodge by Catherine Tammaro.

The sparkling Sugar Bush and Winterlit trails each offer a one-kilometre walk with fireside lounges and photo stations throughout to capture the magical moments with friends and loved ones.

“The real magic of Winterlit lies in how we create our lighting and art displays to minimize energy use and environmental impact. Sustainability is at the core of our event,” said Craig Machan, Conservation Halton director of parks and operations.

“Winterlit uses only LED lighting, and we rely on electricity instead of gas generators to illuminate the trails. Most of the wood features are made from repurposed ash trees removed from our parks because of the impacts of the Emerald Ash Borer, an invasive insect. Our talented staff created the remaining trail elements from recycled and upcycled products.”

In addition to the outdoor light display, Winterlit guests can also:

  • Check out the Book Nook cabin, where you can take part in a winter book exchange and play board games
  • Stop by the Den to learn about Mountsberg’s resident animals
  • Get up close and person with one of the resident raptors by adding Owl Prowl to your visit (select dates only)
  • Support Conservation Halton’s Animal Care Fund by purchasing a heart to paint that can be taken home or added to a featured art display
  • Take home a wood-branded souvenir of your visit.

Winterlit runs from Dec. 28 to Jan. 7 (Jan. 2, 2024 excepted) and Fridays through Sundays from Jan. 12 to Feb. 19 at Mountsberg Conservation Area, located at 2259 Milburough Town Line, Campbellville.

For an elevated experience, Winterlit offers special Enchanted Evenings on Dec. 31 and Feb. 10 for New Year’s and Valentine’s Day celebrations. Enchanted Evenings bring extra joy to Winterlit with an Ice Bar, live music, magic acts, roaming light and fire performers, and activities like candle making.

Tickets are now on sale through Conservation Halton’s website.
