Dozens of local youths will be offering up some inspiration this weekend with a healthy dose of business savvy.

The young entrepreneurs are ready to showcase their skills on Sunday during the Kind Vibe Kids Children’s Market - part of the Christmas Market in the Glen.

The youngsters will be selling everything from handmade jewelry and pillows to organic skincare products, Christmas cards and more.

Kind Vibe Kids owner Sarah Robson has been busy helping the children get ready for their big moment and recently hosted a business building meeting for them that focused on everything from time and money management to branding, marketing and more.

“I want to empower children, help them find their voice, teach them the value of their time and let them know there’s no ceiling for them,” said Robson, noting she’s also a big believer in teaching financial literacy at a young age.

Among those ready to take part in the children’s market is Amiah Dhillon, whose exuberance about her business, Bracelets by Amiah, is evident as she talks about her variety of products, including a bracelet that doubles as a lip gloss holder.

“The reason I started my business is because when I grow up I want to be a fashion designer,” she said, noting she’s also taking sewing classes to further that dream.

During the business building meeting, the children took part in a variety of exercises to grow their confidence as entrepreneurs. They practised talking about their products and did role playing to prepare for customer interactions on the big day.

“I believe in these kids and I love them like they’re my own kids,” said an emotional Robson. “The best part is standing at the market and looking at their faces and seeing how proud they are of themselves.”

On Sunday, the Kind Vibe Kids Children’s Market will be located at the entrance of the Christmas Market in the Glen, nestled along Main Street and in the Glen Fitness Studio parking lot. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m.

Plans are in the works for a spring children’s market as well. Stay tuned to kindvibekids.ca for further details.
