Raiders extend winning streak to four with 7-2 victory over Caledon

Newlove stops 46 shots, Gallo scores twice as Raiders remain perfect in November

Michael Newlove made 46 saves and Jack Gallo had two goals and an assist as the Georgetown Raiders extended their winning streak to four games with a 7-2 win over Caledon Saturday.

The Raiders erased an early deficit with three goals in under four minutes in the Ontario Junior Hockey League game. The Raiders tacked on three more in the second period to extend its lead to 6-1.

The Georgetown defence made a big contribution offensively with two goals and 10 points, led by Justin Huynh’s goal and two assists and Andrew Robinson’s four assists.

Jayden Levesque, Nolan Keeler, Tanner Lawson and Ben Austin also scored for the Raiders.

In the Raiders’ previous game, Douglas Mitchell scored a pair of goals in a 5-1 victory over the Toronto Patriots. Huynh, Jaden Wong and Levesque had the other goals while Gallo and Owen Bruining each had two assists.

Newlove made 35 saves and has now allowed three or fewer goals in 10 straight starts. 

With its winning streak, Georgetown has climbed to sixth place in the West Conference. The Raiders will look to remain perfect in November when they face the North York Rangers Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mold-Masters SportsPlex.

Raiders’ defenceman Colin Maund was named to Team Rodrigues – named for former Raider forward Evan Rodrigues – for the Battle of Ontario all-star competition against the Central Canada Hockey League.
