It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Malcolm Bottomley, who passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 73. Keith was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend whose life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and service.

Born on May 16, 1951, Keith dedicated his life to protecting and serving as a police officer with the Metropolitan Toronto Police for 30 years, retiring in 2000. His career was marked by courage, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a safer place. He also cared for his local community as a town councillor, which he enjoyed doing in the late 1990's. Upon retirement, he remained a social and supportive presence in the lives of those he cared for, he loved dancing, boating and fishing, horse racing, participating in and coaching sports and was known for his camaraderie, strength and generosity.

Keith is predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy Bottomley (Farrer) who immigrated to Georgetown in the late 1940's from Leeds, England. Keith is survived by his devoted wife, Karen (Mintern), and their loving children, Jennifer (Walt), Jaimie (Holly), and Julie (Guy). He was the proud and cherished grandad of Jayden, Hannah, Bryce, Sara, Makayla, Cole, and Cody, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is remembered by his brother Stewart (Bonnie), his sister-in-law Jonne Leslie (Bill) and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A lover of animals, he will also be missed by Steve and Theo.

Though Keith endured chronic pain and illness for many years, he faced his challenges with strength and grace. His passing reminds us of the importance of compassion and mental health and addiction awareness, causes that were close to his heart. Many thanks to the palliative care team who provided exceptional quality care and support during his final weeks.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to mental health and addiction awareness charities or Spinal Cord Injury Ontario (SCION), in Keith’s honour.

We are planning a celebration of life for Keith in the spring. Keith’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
