2 November, 1958 – 14 October, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved sister, Katherine Elizabeth Fuchs, who left us unexpectedly while on a business trip in Austin, Texas on Monday October 14, 2024. She was 65 years old.
Growing up on a dairy farm in Acton, Kathy (Kate) developed a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for nature that stayed with her throughout her life. She was a graduate of the University of Guelph, where she laid the foundation for her successful career. Although she began her journey in molecular biology and genetics, she went on to become and expert in computer information systems, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues at the County of Wellington.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Kathy was a passionate home cook, baker and gardener as well as a seamstress and knitter, among many other skills and interests. Her culinary creations filled our homes with warmth and love, while her garden reflected her nurturing spirit. She found joy in hiking, often seeking inspiration in the beauty of the outdoors.
Her love of family, nature and travel took her to many places around the world. She looked forward to her annual journey to a cottage on Lake Talon. Family was paramount to her, and she cherished her visits to family in North Bay, Edmonton and Switzerland, where she created lasting memories with loved ones. Kathy was more than just a sister and a friend; she was a source of boundless love and support.
She is survived by her brother John (Marion), sister Mary (Mark), nieces Holly (Matthew), Katie (Jamie), Mitchell (Jamie) and grand-nieces and nephew Adelaide, Amelia, Eliza, Ellis and Hugh, who will treasure the moments shared with her. She was predeceased by her parents Bendicht and Elisabeth.
Though she was taken from us far too soon, Kathy’s legacy of love and caring will continue to resonate in our lives. She will be deeply missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
The family will be holding a memorial visitation on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, at MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
