It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Christine Hunsdale (Sainsbury) on May 25, 2023, peacefully at Georgetown Hospital in her 95th year.

Dorothy was a treasured part of her family and will be greatly missed. She was a resilient woman who overcame many obstacles in her life. She was born in England and lived there until her early 20’s. She married her Irish love, Alec, and the two of them immigrated to Canada to start their life together after the war.

They made their way to Glen Williams and had a wonderful life together that she cherished. She enjoyed volunteering as a Girl Guide Leader and was involved in her church. She and Alec loved their cottage in Georgian Bay and spent many years enjoying the view on The Freddie with their grandchildren.

Dorothy was blessed to have met Grant in her later years after being widowed. They married and had wonderful years together traveling and cottaging in Georgian Bay and Manitoulin Island.

Dorothy loved to chat! She enjoyed visits from wonderful friends, family and neighbours. She had a passion for gardening and hers was nothing short of spectacular. She always had a pet and spoiled everyone of them over the years.

Dorothy had a real passion for life and always said she was blessed. She never considered herself as getting older. When she was 92 and given a bath seat to help keep her safe she took one look at it and said “that is for an old person not me”. It was pretty hard not to smile and admire her attitude in life- forever young.

At her request there will be no service. Private interment at Glen Williams Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills or St. Alban’s Anglican Church would be appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to Jones Funeral Home
