OPP are working to identify two ATV operators who they say assaulted and threatened a couple on the Cataract Trail.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are turning to the public for help identifying two all-terrain vehicle riders who they say assaulted and threatened a couple on the Cataract Trail in Erin.

On April 5 just before 8 p.m., police say a small red ATV was reported to be trespassing on a section of trail near Stanley Park.

According to police, the two riders approached a couple on the trail and a 60-year-old man was assaulted.

"The victim and his 54-year-old spouse fled to a vehicle, where one assailant continued to threaten the couple," police said in a press release. "The male required treatment for his injuries."

One suspect is described as an average height male, tanned, with black, thinning hair, a bald spot and a light beard. He was wearing a camo jacket, grey hoodie and white shoes.

The second suspect is described as a male wearing a blue parka and dark pants.
