Georgetown man charged after stolen vehicles turn up in routine traffic stop

A Georgetown man has been charged after the OPP recovered two stolen vehicles following a routine stop on Hwy. 401 near Prescott, Ont.

A Ministry of Transportation officer stopped a transport truck near the Hwy. 416 interchange around 9 a.m. Friday (Jan. 17). 

The Grenville detachment of the OPP was contacted after two vehicles were located in a shipping container on the trailer. The OPP confirmed that the Toyota Highlander and the Dodge Ram in the container had been stolen from the Toronto and Peterborough areas. 

Officers also seized what was suspected to be methamphetamine. 

The driver of the transport was arrested at the scene. 

Prem Parkash Singh, 26, of Georgetown has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of a Schedule 1 substance. 

The accused was released from custody with a scheduled appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on Feb. 21. 

The investigation into the stolen vehicles is continuing.
