Georgetown teen charged with impaired driving at RIDE check

December 17, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Jackson Street, Rockwood.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old youth from Georgetown was charged with:

  • YPC Operation While Impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • YPC Operation While Impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus
  • Novice Driver - B.A.C. above zero
  • Young Driver - B.A.C. above zero

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph, at a later date.
