Peel Police issue Canada-wide warrant in attempted murder investigation

Police say the 33-year-old man is 'considered armed and dangerous'

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Nakeem Jamar Johnson.

Peel Regional Police are turning to the public for help locating a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, numerous firearm offences and drug trafficking offences.

The incident dates back to Feb. 3, 2022, when Peel Police say they attended the area of Queen Street East and Rutherford Road in Brampton for a shooting.

"An adult male victim was located suffering from gunshot wounds, resulting in serious but non-life-threatening injuries," police said in a press release.

Police started an investigation dubbed Project Journey into what they're calling a targeted shooting. To date, six parties have been arrested in relation to the investigation.

Police say they've executed search warrants in multiple jurisdictions across the GTA. The investigation has led to the seizure of five firearms, 10 kg of methamphetamine, and significant quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, according to police.

A Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of 33-year-old Nakeem Jamar Johnson has been issued for the following offences:

  • Attempt murder
  • Conspiracy to commit murder
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession (four counts)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm (four counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited device (44 counts).

He is described as male, black, 5-foot-6, 160 pounds, with short black hair, a black beard, and brown eyes.

Police say Johnson is "considered armed and dangerous." If located, residents are advised to not approach and call 911 immediately.
