Many Acton households are showing their support for a fellow neighbour who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
A campaign of sorts was started on Tidey Avenue by Deanna Locey, who had almost three dozen signs printed that take a strong stand against the disease.
The signs can be seen on the front lawns of many Tidey Avenue homes, and some on Elmore Drive as well in the neighbourhood beside Fairy Lake.
“We wanted to support her when she (our neighbour) started chemo and it just kind of snowballed from there,” said Locey.
“A lot of people contacted me through Facebook or came to my door requesting signs because they all have their own stories, whether it’s their parents, their brothers or their own children that have all been diagnosed.”
With implied profanity on the signs, which have all been distributed now, Locey said she was a bit concerned at first about how people would react to them.
“But it’s been all positive, and that just speaks volumes,” she said of the feedback she’s received. “I think when it comes to cancer, what else can you say?”
The neighbour who was diagnosed with cancer wants to maintain her privacy during this challenging time.
