The Town of Halton Hills is looking for five people to serve on a steering committee for the Georgetown GO Station/Mill Street Corridor Secondary Plan review.
The volunteer positions are open to residents, landowners and business owners and will help the Town shape policies for the revised secondary plan for the area.
The review of the secondary plan began in April 2022 and is required to make it conform with updated provincial and regional policies. The focus of the review has been how to best incorporate required density increases while also protecting the natural heritage and historic low-density neighbourhoods in the area.
The duties of the steering committee will include:
- Sharing information and knowledge of the study area
- Providing input on the project, including the development of draft secondary plan policies
- Attending committee meetings and public open houses
- Receiving feedback from community members outside the committee
- Serving as a direct link between the project team and the community.
To be eligible, steering committee applicants must be a resident of, own property within or adjacent to the Georgetown GO Station Area/Mill Street Corridor Plan Area. Members must also be at least 18 years old and may not be employed by the Town of Halton Hills. Representatives of established neighbourhood groups and associations are welcome and encouraged to apply.
Applicants should provide some information on why they would like to be part of the steering committee as well as any experience, skill or expertise they bring to the role. They should also indicate what public open houses or working groups related to the project they have attended.
The application deadline is Jan. 10 at 4:30 p.m. Anyone interested can complete the steering committee application on the Town’s website. Those requiring an application in a different format should contact deputy clerk Melissa Lawr, [email protected].
