The Townsend Smith Foundation has received another funding boost to help it build north Halton’s first hospice residence.

Representatives from The Sanctuary Concert Hall (TSCH) and St. John’s United Church of Georgetown and Glen Williams recently presented the foundation with cheques totalling more than $5,300 as a result of fundraising efforts through musical events this year.

“The need for a hospice in North Halton is most urgent,” said Rob Allison of TSCH.

“Anyone who has experienced the level of palliative care that is given for loved ones in a hospice will know how special and important it is to have this kind of facility in our area. The Sanctuary Concert Hall and the people of St. John’s wholeheartedly endorse and support this initiative and we will continue to do so in 2024."

The Townsend Smith Foundation has acquired the Hillcrest United Church site at the corner of Trafalgar Road and 5 Sideroad as the location for the future hospice.
