Want more mileage out of your holiday generosity?
The Darling Home for Kids has your answer.
The 15 Sideroad facility's benefactors — Michele Darling and her family, Michael, Daniel, and Ryan Eagen — are celebrating the Giving Tuesday season by matching donations dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 from Nov. 18 to Dec. 3.
“As guardians of the Darling Home for Kids, it’s deeply fulfilling to support an organization that offers such vital care and comfort to families and children when they need it most,” said Michele Darling of the local sanctuary that offers care and respite services to medically-complex children and their families. “Together, with your support, we are committed to continuing the legacy of the Darling Home for Kids, ensuring we can be there for families whenever they need us.”
Since becoming the Home’s guardian in 2007, Michele and her husband, Michael, have been instrumental in the organization’s growth and success. Michele’s leadership in the phase II campaign in 2008 doubled the Home’s size.
She’s played a major role in the success of The Embrace Campaign, which raised over $7 million towards the 10,000-square-foot expansion that will begin in 2025, increasing capacity to help more children and families in need.
“It’s hard to find that balance between caring for Keira’s medical needs and spending quality time with loved ones. I don’t know where we would be without the support of this respite program. It truly transformed our lives,” said DHK mom LeeAnn.
As the only place of its kind in Canada, The Darling Home for Kids is entrusted to care for the most medically complex children. Each year, they provide over 40,000 hours of highly specialized respite, palliative and residential care for families from across the province. Last year alone, DHK supported over three dozen families through counselling and resource sessions, helping parents navigate caregiving challenges.
