The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association (GHVA) is continuing its support of the local healthcare facility with a $60,000 donation.

The volunteer group presented the cheque during its recent 64th annual meeting. The funds were raised through the gift shop, 50/50 draws and other community events.

“We can’t thank our amazing volunteers enough for their incredible commitment of time, talent and compassion,” says Michele Leroux, Halton Healthcare’s Chief Human Resources Officer. “We are so grateful for the work they do to help us provide exemplary patient experiences, always.”

Georgetown Hospital Chief Operating Officer Monica Bettazzoni noted that the volunteers do so much to support the local hospital.

"From greeting you when you first walk through the door and helping patients at mealtime, to running various fundraisers throughout the year, their support is invaluable to our hospital.”

GHVA president Allan Welters added, “I am proud to lead such a dedicated team of compassionate volunteers who strive to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families and have a lasting impact on the health of our community.”

During the meeting, the accomplishments that volunteers achieved over the past year, along with their years of service, were celebrated.

The Georgetown Hospital is operated by Halton Healthcare, which accepts applications for new volunteers twice a year. Adults and youth looking to volunteer can submit an application online until August 12. Visit www.haltonhealthcare.com for more information.
