Georgetown Raider goalie Michael Newlove made 28 saves for his first junior shutout in a 3-0 win over Caledon.

A goal in the final minute of overtime gave the Aurora Tigers a 5-4 win over the Georgetown Raiders Wednesday.

The Raiders were coming off their first two wins of the season heading into this week’s Governor’s Showcase in Niagara Falls, but fell 4-1 to Haliburton County Tuesday and the Tigers Wednesday.

Third-period goals by Ignac Bene and Jayden Levesque gave Georgetown a 4-3 lead against Aurora, but the Tigers tied the game with 4:26 left in the third and then got the overtime winner with 55 seconds left in overtime.

Owen Bruining and Aiden Lee also scored for the Raiders, who outshot Aurora 50-37. Andrew Robinson had two assists.

Conner Thomson-Dick had Georgetown’s lone goal in a 4-1 loss Tuesday.

The news was not all bad for the Raiders. Michael Newlove made 49 saves and Levesque had a goal and two assists as Georgetown scored four times in the third period to double up on the Toronto Jr. Canadiens 6-3 Saturday.

James Wong, Justin Huynh, Joel Apthorp, Thomson-Dick and Owen McNamara also scored and Lee had two assists.

It was the second straight win for the Raiders, who shut out Caledon 3-0 behind a 28-save effort by Newlove. John Mitchell, Apthorp and Braydon Hobson, with his first junior goal, scored for Georgetown.

The Raiders play their next four games on the road, beginning with games in Mississauga Saturday and King City Sunday.
