Ground was broken this week at the site of a large new industrial building planned for Acton's Futura Drive.

The 141,000-square-foot structure will be built by Panattoni Development Company, with leasing anticipated in the latter half of 2023.

The facility will accommodate between 100 and 200 employees and could be home to manufacturing, warehousing or logistics uses.

"We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship and continuing to develop our strong partnership with the Panattoni team well into the future,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

Bonnette was joined by Councillors Clark Somerville, Mike Albano and Ted Brown for the groundbreaking, along with Panattoni representatives.

The project is a $35-million investment from the company that the Town of Halton HIlls says will have positive spin-off economic benefits in Acton.

The facility is expected to be a state-of-the-art design with a 40-foot clear height, 24 truck-level doors and outdoor storage.
