The Town of Halton Hills has lots of free fun in store for local residents on Family Day.
Activities with no admission cost on Monday, Feb. 19 will include:
- Skating: There will be family skating at the Acton Arena from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and Mold-Masters SportsPlex in Georgetown from 2 to 3:20 p.m. This will be followed by public skating from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in Acton and 3:30 to 4:50 p.m. in Georgetown. The events are sponsored by Superior Glove, the Georgetown Lions Club and Team Dawe Real Estate.
- Swimming: Those looking to take a dip on Family Day can go so during leisure swims at the Gellert pool from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 to 1:45 p.m., and at the Acton pool from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
- Family Day Art Activity: The Helson Gallery will be hosting family fun from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. After exploring the artwork in the Transatlantic Paper Trail exhibition, participants can create their own whimsical colour-wash cityscape inspired by the work of Rudolf Stussi. All materials will be provided.
- Mini Putt: Come out for a round of indoor mini putt at the Acton Arena. The event will run 2 to 3:30 p.m. in the Rick Bonnette Community Hall. All ages welcome.
- Indoor Play Street: There will be large lawn games, a story walk and scavenger hunt at the Gellert Community Centre (Kinsmen Hall) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Fun at the Library: The Georgetown and Acton branches will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. on Family Day. There will be family story time at 2 p.m., followed by a dance party at 3 p.m. at both branches. A scavenger hunt will also run throughout the afternoon. The Barbie movie will be screened at the John Elliott Theatre at 2 p.m.
