The community’s giving spirit was on full display Saturday, as dozens of volunteers came together to join Pack a Bag for a Friend Foundation’s annual holiday campaign.
Founded in 2014 by Miltonians Denise and Peter Mule, the local non-profit collected, assembled and delivered hampers to 600 families across the region.
Each was filled with a frozen turkey or Halal chicken and fruits and vegetables. The deliveries also included backpacks – a total of 2,000 – filled with school supplies and essentials like pyjamas, hats, gloves and socks. Completing the overall packages were a toy, book or other gift.
The group has been growing each year, with support from 40 to 50 volunteers, including members of the Milton Professional Firefighters Association.
It also supports nearly two dozen organizations across Halton, including Big Brothers and Sisters of Halton, St. Vincent de Paul, Grace Anglican Church, Food4Kids, Food for Life, Milton Community Living, Shifra Homes, to name just a few.
