Lace up your skates, two of Halton Hills’ outdoor rinks are ready, just in time for the weekend.

Today (Friday) is the first day for the Town rink in Acton's Prospect Park. The rink will be lit daily from 5-11 p.m.

The volunteer-maintained rink at Joseph Gibbons Park (by George Kennedy Public School) in Georgetown is also ready for skaters. That rink does not have lights.

Construction has not started yet on the Town’s main outdoor rink in Georgetown at the Fairgrounds. The Town said there's not enough of a snow base yet to build ice.

There are two more volunteer-maintained rinks in progress, one in Bovis Park (Wallace Street) in Acton and one in Maple Creek Park (Tenth Line and Argyll Road) in Georgetown.

The Town will assist anyone volunteering to maintain an outdoor rink on Town property. Interested individuals or groups should contact the Director of Parks and Open Space at 905-873-2601, ext. 2274 for further information.
