A Milton man remains in critical condition after a multi-vehicle collision in Milton Friday evening (Sept. 20).

A total of eight vehicles were involved in the crash at Derry Road and Ontario Street South, which occurred at about 5 p.m.

Halton Police report that a GMC Sierra – driven by a 35-year-old Milton man – was westbound on Derry Road when it collided with several vehicles in the area of the intersection.

Police say the GMC continued forward and crossed the centre median west of the intersection, where it overturned and struck several eastbound vehicles, coming to a rest in the eastbound lanes of Derry Road.

Among the eastbound vehicles struck by the GMC was a Toyota Corolla, operated by a 55-year-old Milton man. He sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area trauma centre, where he’s in critical condition.

He and two others were extricated from vehicles by firefighters, with those occupants believed to have sustained only minor injuries.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours and the investigation continues.

Any witnesses or individuals with dashboard camera footage who have not yet spoken with police are asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 905-825-4747, ext. 5065.
