Drum roll, please.
The Rotary Club of Acton has revealed its 2024 Citizen of the Year.
The honour is being bestowed on Mike Albano, who has spent many years serving with local organizations like the Acton Lions Club, Acton Fall Fair, Acton Terry Fox Run Committee, Acton Community Garden and Acton Foodshare.
Others may know him as a member of Halton Hills Council.
As one nominator wrote, "He is such a great asset and so very humble. Never takes the credit for himself, he is the first to give the credit to other volunteers for a job well done."
The selection committee, consisting of three former citizens of the year, carefully reviewed several candidate submissions, "all of whom would have been excellent choices to receive the honour," says the Rotary Club.
An evening to honour Albano will be held Oct. 8, with tickets going on sale next week.
